Soothing Hunger's Savage Beast: Moments of weakness call for smart snacking and thinking. Six strategies to put hunger in its place.

Feeling ravenous can undermine a sensible diet in at least two ways. First, it can make you eat when you don't need any food—sometimes the feeling is the product of a bored or worried mind rather than an actual indication of hunger. Second, it's real enough to send you into an eating frenzy at your next meal. By adopting a few smart strategies, you can make it through those moments of weakness—or prevent them from happening in the first place. Click HERE for the full story.

everyday snacks
apple, orange, banana, occasionally grapes, or kiwi. during the summer: melon.
one serving of almonds
a mug of hot tea
a skim milk latte
brown rice cakes
a "yo baby" baby yogurt
TLC bar
fat free sugar free pudding (with 2 tablespoons of crushed nuts)

if big guns are required: bag of vegetables stir fried in one tablespoon of oil.

Those are GREAT (and delicious!) ideas, shug! I haven't tried brown ricecakes yet but I think I will. My latest thing I do to tide me over between meals is to make some whole-grain pasta, toss it with some olive oil, throw in some fresh, shaved parmesian cheese, and fresh ground pepper. To make it a meal I throw in a tin of tuna and sometimes I even throw in a assortment of beans (e.g., black beans, kidney beans, and navy beans). It's quick and dee-lish!

Why thank you, thank you very much! You ain't no chopped liver yourself, darlin'! I'm glad we have similar tastes in food (and jokes!!). You simply MUST give me your recipe for that bean salad you made last year! It might have had a red wine vinegar base???
