250k: Check. Next stop: 500k!

I feel like a kid again whenever I receive a new certificate from Nike+ for reaching new milestones! This latest one is actually not reflective of my actual mileage, which was finally updated today on the Nike+ site (long story). Now I'm about 4 kilometers shy of 300k.

QuoD: Do certificates (medals, trophies...) motivate you? If not, what types of rewards work for YOU??

Sad to say, I'm motivated by negative reinforcement--if I go a few days without doing any movement, I get sore, stiff, my joints crack really loudly (all day, instead of just in the morning), and I hurt like mad... I can only go with 2 days of that before I have to stretch & get moving again!

Whew! For a second there when I read that you respond best to negative reinforcement, I thought you were gonna say nagging or someone yelling at you! I had flashbacks to basic training when I was in the military with the drill instructor barking in people's faces, "move it!" : ) I think your idea it MUCH better! I agree that once you and your body get used to working out, NOT doing makes you feel all out of sorts.

No, yelling and nagging will actively DIS-incent me from doing whatever it is I'm being nagged to do. I am a stubborn Capricorn, after all, just ask Leona! :)

You sound like a certain gemini I know and live with! This person, who shall remain nameless), HATES being told what to do and--depending on which twin is in charge that day--will politely ignore you or give you the sassy, "you're not the boss of me" look or icy stare! : )

Hey Kath, did you respond to this week's poll about your favorite physical activity? Just curious about what you look forward to doing...

No, I didn't respond yet--it's so hard to choose!

I almost wrote a novel that was way too much information, so I'll just narrow it down to my top 3: yoga, running (or other cardio, hiking/outdoorsy stuff (day trips, no camping!)

Kath, I love the diversity of the stuff you like to do! I should have changed the format of this week's poll to allow muliple responses because you're right: it's hard to just pick one! I used to LOVE hiking when I lived in Mountain View, CA! That whole area, heck, that whole COASTLINE of CA, is gorgeous! So much outdoorsy stuff to do there cuz the weather's so great. Lucky You! : )
